Bayer grows 2.8% in its Crop Science area during 2023

Bayer has announced notable growth in its sales in Spain during 2023, consolidating its position as a benchmark in the market.

With very positive results in its three areas of activity, the company has recorded sales for a total of 768 million euros, which represents an increase of 3% compared to the previous year.

Within the framework of its 125th anniversary in Spain, the company has reinforced its position as an engine of innovation and development in the country.

During 2023, Bayer has made a significant investment in Spain, reaching a figure of 154.3 million euros. This figure, which includes both the investment in comparable data and the consolidated contribution of the advanced therapy centers in San Sebastián -Viralgen and TAAV-, demonstrates the company’s commitment to promoting research and the production of innovative solutions for everything. the world.

Growth in Crop Science

In a challenging year marked by adverse weather conditions, Bayer has announced solid growth of 2.8% in its Crop Science (agriculture) area in Spain during 2023.

This increase, which represents a total of 256 million euros in sales, highlights the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the agricultural sector.

Despite the obstacles, Bayer has managed to strengthen its position in the Spanish market, standing out especially in the field of insecticides. Additionally, the company is moving towards a regenerative agriculture model, expanding its range of biological solutions with products such as Vynyty Lobesia™ for vineyards.

The digitalization of the field has also been a priority for Bayer, with the launch of innovative solutions such as Root to success y Resiyou™ for horticulture, as well as Field View for extensive crops, which is already implemented in more than 450,000 hectares in Spain. These advances reflect Bayer’s desire to improve efficiency in the agricultural sector.

Positive results in the other two areas

On the other hand, Bayer has also presented good results in its other areas of activity in our country. In Pharmaceuticals, the company experienced growth of 1.8% (397 million euros) in 2023, driven by the expansion of its product portfolio, while Consumer Health recorded a striking 7.5% increase in sales (115 million of euros).

Furthermore, within the framework of this results presentation, the company shared its progress in sustainability, highlighting an additional 9% reduction in its CO2 emissions in scope 1 and 2, and 15% in scope 3 since 2019.

In total, Bayer has already reduced its emissions by 38% in the country and throughout the value chain.

Likewise, in our country there are more than 2,300 Bayer employees, coming from more than 50 nationalities. Within this number of workers, there is a full parityand when it comes exclusively to management positions, 47% are women, which places them very close to achieving parity.
