THE Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) reminded the ranks of the General Election Commission (KPU) regarding the planned use of the Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap) which will be used once more for the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in November.
Reflecting on the experience of the previous 2024 Election, Bawaslu hopes that the Sirekap for the 2024 Pilkada will not cause any commotion.
Coordinator of the Human Resources, Organization and Training Division and member of Bawaslu RI Herwyn JH Malonda said that Sirekap is a tool to provide transparent election result information. In addition to voters, he also acknowledged that Sirekap helps the tasks of the supervisory ranks.
Nevertheless, Herwyn asked the KPU to continue to improve the system in Sirekap. So that the information presented in Sirekap does not become disinformation that actually causes chaos.
“(Sirekap) prevents cheating, while it must be made as well as possible. So that later this information becomes disinformation or creates chaos,” he said in Jakarta, Sunday (14/7).
Herywn argued that the initial purpose of Sirekap initiated by the KPU for the 2024 Election and the 2024 Pilkada was indeed good. For Bawaslu, the election results data listed in Sirekap can later be used as a comparison if there is a discrepancy in the field.

“For example, in the election results we see whether they are in accordance with the provisions, that can be comparative data for us if there are changes,” he said.
Acting Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Mochammad Afifuddin previously confirmed that Sirekap would be used once more for the 2024 Pilkada. He emphasized that improvements to Sirekap were made based on the notes and evaluations received by the KPU.
“Our spirit is actually to continue using (Sirekap) with some improvements and changes according to needs. The note is not to disturb or make noise in the community,” he concluded. (Z-8)
