1. FC Union also drives Borussia Dortmund to despair and successfully defends its lead in the Bundesliga. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich took second place thanks to a 5-0 thrashing of Freiburg.

Union Berlin remains a phenomenon. Coach Urs Fischer’s team celebrated their fourth win in a row in all competitions with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund, although the team never conceded a goal. Thus, the Berliners extend their lead at the top to four points over the first pursuer. While this is unusual, says Fischer, it is nothing more than a snapshot for him.

At Dortmund, Gregor Kobel is the tragic figure. When he receives a back pass in the 8th minute, the Swiss goalie slips and has to watch as Union’s Janik Haberer easily pushes the ball into the net. The same player increases to 2-0 a quarter of an hour later; the home team defends the lead over time.

The first pursuer of the Berliners is now Bayern Munich. The record champions ensure clear conditions early on in the home game once morest Freiburg, which had a strong start like Union. Thanks to goals from Serge Gnabry and Eric Choupo-Moting, the home team went into the break calm and started the freestyle in the second half. In the end it was 5-0, with five goals scored by five different players.
