The new personnel target is 1,500 jobs, said the election campaigning CSU boss on Wednesday at the Bavarian-Austrian border in Freilassing. The border with Austria in particular should be monitored more closely. The unit currently includes around 820 police officers and is therefore lagging behind Söder’s announcements from previous years. By 2023, the border police should actually have 1,000 officers.
