It was only recently that a dev video announced the return of the class system from previous Battlefield games. Now a community manager is revealing more details.
This is how the classes should work
The latest information comes from the EA forums. Community manager Straatford87 explains how specializations and classes will be merged:
What will happen to specializations?
The return of the class system does not mean that Specialists, introduced with 2042, will be removed from the game. Instead, each of them will be assigned to a specific class. They will also retain their special skills and gear.
What will be the classes?
As in other Battlefield games, there will be four classes. Their name and probably also their function roughly resemble those of the classes in Battlefield 4. Thus there will be assault soldiers, pioneers, supply ships and scouts.
Will weapons and equipment be limited?
All weapons will still be available for each class, no restrictions are foreseen. However, gadgets such as ammo boxes, tools or C5 explosives will be limited to certain classes. The different grenades will also be assigned to a specific class. For example, an Assault Trooper will not be able to carry tools or ammo boxes, only frag and smoke grenades.
It’s likely that Assault Troopers specialize in healing teammates, Trailblazers in repairing and destroying vehicles, Refuelers in resupplying ammo, and Scouts in spotting enemies.
Which specialist corresponds to which class?
The developers recently presented a first possible distribution of specialists in classes in a new video. However, it is not yet final and modifications might still be made.
