Despite a disastrous start, Battlefield 2042 has managed to catch up in the eyes of many players thanks to regular updates, fixes and clearly welcome additions. Today, the studio shares a first look at Season 6, but mostly reveals Redux.

A sixth season that promises to be very dark

The developer therefore confirms the arrival of a map offering a “new unique battlefield with dark secrets”. There is clearly something to be intrigued regarding, especially when DICE warns us regarding the “fear of the unknown” that we should “feel”.

The video to be found at the bottom of the article allows you to discover a few seconds of gameplay in a very dark area, all outdoors. It is true that in view of the other maps present in the game, this feature alone suggests that the experience will be different from those offered by the other battlefields of Battlefield 2042.

Season 6 will be available in October, so we will have to be a little patient before we know more.

Redux is coming to Battlefield 2042

Before embarking on Season 6, players will be able to relive the best moments of Battlefield 2042 through Redux. It will thus be possible to browse the modes and events of seasons 2, 3 and 4 in addition to having the opportunity to win rewards.

During Redux, you’ll discover new ways to play with your favorite modes and maps while earning new or returning weekly rewards. Chaotic Rush XL, Tactical Conquest, Chaotic Breakthrough, Assault Conquest or Neutralization… You will have many ways to play and earn rewards.

But these modes are not returning as they were before. We’ve taken your feedback on board, so expect tweaked versions of these modes every week, with new person count limits.

You will also find the limited-time events The Liquidators, Battle of Nordvik and Rise of the Leviathan as well as their modes.

Redux Rewards

The rewards will be obtained through a dedicated progression with Ribbons, like the seasonal events. DICE explains that this time, the progression will be faster and easier.

Indeed, players will not be confined to certain experiences to progress, but to all the official modes of All-Out Warfare and Battlefield Portal.

Different types of rewards will be up for grabs, namely new content, but also items formerly available in the store, but this time unlockable for free by playing. Character, vehicle and weapon skins will be included.

Overview of some rewards

The Precise Drill skin for the AK-24 The Vengeance skin for Charlie Crawford The Cybernetic Apocalypse outfit for Dozer The Cataclysm skin for the PBX-45 The Hacking weapon charm

Calendar and game modes

Two whole weeks will be dedicated to the events of seasons 2, 3 and 4. Players will be able to take the time to discover revisited versions of popular modes by the community, this time on several maps. The calendar can be seen in the image above.

The gaming experiences will be very varied due to the 5 modes available over these 6 weeks which already promise to be very dense.

Chaotic Rush XL

In Rush XL, destroy the relays to advance on the battlefield or protect the relays and stop the enemy’s progress. Parties available for 128 people.

Rush steps up a gear to accommodate up to 128 people and gives you maximum mayhem with new modifiers that increase character movement speed, projectile speed, and throwable weapons.

Tactical conquest

Tactical Conquest is an infantry-focused version of classic Conquest. Battle enemy squads to capture and defend three flags. To win the round, exhaust the enemy’s tickets.

You will need to work with the squad to maintain control of the objectives. Exploit respawn beacons and bypass routes and storm enemy occupied objectives with your team. The more of you there are on the objective while capturing it, the faster you will capture it.

CA

In 32v32 Assault Conquest, the attacking team starts with more reinforcements and must take the territory occupied by the defending team, which they must defend their objectives at all costs.

The defending team’s HQ respawn is disabled, but they can still rely on squad respawns and the EBLC-Ram’s deploy beacon to survive and hold objectives.

chaotic breakthrough

Chaotic Breakthrough is a Breakthrough experience where movement, redeployment, throwing, and vehicle requests are accelerated, with the added bonus of up to 128 people. In a word: chaotic.

Neutralization

In Neutralize, the attacking team uses the Spear to destroy enemy data caches, while the defending team protects them. Each game is played over two rounds, giving each side a chance to make up for it…or get revenge.

Play the Goal – The Lance: The ESA-500 Lance is a portable microwave device that deletes data from nearby hard drives. The attacking team can land it wherever they want in predefined objective areas, which feature crates full of hard drives. It scores points as long as the Spear is active and all the more so if it completely neutralizes discs. The defending team can deactivate the Spears via short interactions. Tactics and cunning are the key words in Neutralization. Place the Spear in an open location to bait your enemies, hide it in a corner and protect it with your gadgets and throwing weapons, or devise your own approach.

Neutralization of the objective: when a Lance placed on an objective has earned a certain number of points, it is neutralized and disappears from the map. The more the objectives disappear, the more the confrontation with the enemy is inevitable.

Claim victory: you will play one round on the attacking team, then another round on the defending team. When the first round ends, you change sides before moving on to the next one. In the attacking team, you win the victory by managing to score the most points. Expect frantic combat.

Upcoming quality of life improvements

Finally, Redux will introduce quality of life improvements. We can therefore expect “balancing changes for the Engineer class and a new Codex feature for those who love to learn more regarding the history of Battlefield 2042.”

More information will be released closer to the release of Redux later this month. See you on August 29 for the launch of Redux before the launch of Season 6.

Battlefield 2042 is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. The title is included in EA Play, and therefore in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
