The more the months pass, the more Battlefield 2042 seems to be floundering. Today, new comments reported by a famous journalist suggest that the game would be almost adrift for Electronic Arts. The goal? Concentrate on the continuation, and in speed.

No room for Hazard

While the announcement was particularly publicized and the communication campaign proved to be successful, it is clear that Battlefield 2042 has gone from bad to worse since its arrival on the market. A promising experience, but whose reliability was questioned by the public, and a follow-up deemed particularly slow, providing basic elements months after the release, perforated the hull of DICE’s big ship.

The developers have even amputated imposing modes and functionalities, such as the possibility of playing with 124 players or the entire Hazard Zone facet, pushing the boat towards a drift that many anticipate. A drift, really? Not quite. Or at least not yet.

Battlefield 7 in sight

This may come as a surprise, but that’s what Jeff Grub, a famous journalist at VentureBeat, reputed to be in the small papers of video games with a certain reliability, reports. First of allit returns to the current state of Battlefield 2042half abandoned by the editor and entrusted to minimal teams.

Concretely, this game is in the hands of a reduced team. It has been narrowed down to the bare essentials and these folks are only working on the promised additional seasons the game needs to reach the high end requirements that have been sold.

In other words, DICE would just be content to deliver the different seasons promised to the player… before moving on to the sequel.

They’re doing this to get everyone moving to the new Battlefield as quickly as possible. The real core Battlefield developer team is already working on it.

Important thing though: Electronic Arts took the liberty of reacting with a denial, claiming that a “great team took great care in developing and improving the Battlefield 2042 experience”even saying “dedicated to the future of the game”. On the other hand, we imagine that a giant like EA would not have corroborated Jeff Grubb’s version, at least not so soon.
