Strictly Limited Games, in partnership with Mebius & Starfish-SD announces that Snow Battle Princess Sayuki will benefit from an exclusive and limited physical release. This Run and Gun shares the gameplay legacy of its spiritual predecessor Pocky & Rocky and will be available on Switch and PlayStation 4.
The snow goddess Sayuki is in love with a mortal boy who is stricken with a serious illness. So you set off on a journey to find a cure for her condition and gain the trust of the villagers, who distrust the goddesses. If only the forces of evil didn’t get in your way.
With your trusty bunny Toto by your side, use different types of snow magic, upgrade them and fight your way through the hordes of yokai and other monsters that stand in your way!
Snow Battle Princess Sayuki can also be played with a friend who takes on the role of Koyuki, Sayuki’s sister. Playing in 2-player co-op mode on the couch turns the game into a competition. Who will have the best score at the end?
Snow Battle Princess Sayuki was originally planned to be part of the Pocky and Rocky/Kiki Kaikai series. The game’s appearance changed due to Square Enix’s takeover of TAITO in the fall of 2005.
Instead of scrapping the game, developer Starfish transformed the look and narrative of Pocky & Rocky into Snow Battle Princess Sayuki. Combining the cuteness of Cute ’em Ups and the intense action of fast-paced isometric shooters, the game proved to be a hit with a small but passionate audience and was released for PS2 and Wii in 2008. .
