Battery Icon Missing From Taskbar; Power Button Setting Grayed Out

Windows 11/10 is quite a feature-rich operating system. However, some people have encountered different issues following upgrading to Windows 11/10. After upgrading or following installing Windows Updates, if you do not see the battery icon on the taskbar, here is an easy fix. If you are using Windows 8.1/8/7, you can quickly show or hide system icons. But, in Windows 11 and Windows 10, you have to go through different paths to discover the options.

Before you start with this tutorial, you should know that this only applies to laptop users. Other versions may have the same option but in a different location.

Windows 10

  1. Open the Settings Windows 10 panel. Just press Win + I to open it.
  2. Here you will see Personalization. Click on it.
  3. Under Personalization, Taskbar should be visible.
  4. Scroll a little to your right to find out Enable or disable system icons below Notification area.
  5. In the next pop-up window, you will find buttons next to clock, volume, network, etc.
  6. You will also see a button next to Power. It is black in color, just toggle this button to turn it on.

The change will apply immediately.

If the Battery icon is missing from the Windows 11 taskbar:

  1. Right click on the taskbar
  2. Select taskbar settings
  3. Taskbar customization settings will open
  4. Scroll down and click on the taskbar corner overflow
  5. Locate the power icon
  6. Make sure the toggle is enabled

The battery icon will now be visible in the taskbar.

If you are unable to do this and the power button is greyed out as shown below, follow these steps.

Open the Manage devicer. You can press Win + X and select Device Manager. After opening it, you will see this window:

Develop Piles. You can find two different options.

  • Microsoft AS adapter
  • Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery

Right click on both and select Disable. Now right click on it once more and select Enable.

Once done, restart your PC and check.

You should be able to get the battery icon or the power icon on your taskbar.

This procedure can also work on Windows 11 and Windows 10.
