This Wednesday, the Great Party held a meeting of its Political Bureau, in which all factions of the party participated. However, Malick Gakou also urged the country’s new leaders, especially President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, to implement the necessary reforms to meet the expectations of the Senegalese people. The Grand Party expressed its “firm and unconditional support” to Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko. This support, a directive from Malick Gakou, was issued after the elections of March 24, 2024, in which President Diomaye’s coalition won an overwhelming victory. The Grand Party also recalled the importance of the Yewwi Askan Wi Alliance Charter, which advocates sincere cooperation between the parties and supports the coalition candidates who qualify for the second round. Therefore, the support for Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who won the first round of elections, is considered obvious.

In summarizing the national situation, the Political Bureau expressed its agreement with the President and reiterated its “full support and commitment to work with the new authorities for the economic and social development of the country”. He encouraged his supporters to mobilize more for the next sale of party cards, the renewal of structures and the convening of the next congress.
