World number one Ashleigh Barty is just two wins away from reaching one of the best moments of her career following another strong showing at the Australian Open on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old reached the semi-finals at Melbourne Park for the second time in three years following thrashing American Jessica Pegula 6-2, 6-0 following an hour of play.
Having fulfilled her childhood dream of winning Wimbledon last year, Barty will face another American opponent, Madison Keys, on Thursday for a place in the final.
Barty hopes to become the first Australian to win the Australian Open since Chris O’Neill won the title in 1978. Barty has yet to drop a set in the tournament and has not lost a match in 2022.
The former French Open champion won the last nine games once morest Pegula, and following the match, she was pleased with this strong performance.
