Ashleigh Barty advanced to the third round of the Australian Open with an easy 6-1 6-1 victory over Italian Lucia Bronzetti at Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday.
The top seed needed 25 minutes to win the first set and continued to dominate the second set, sealing victory in less than an hour following a backhand from her opponent in the net.
Bronzetti, seeded 142nd, missed out on a single break opportunity as the Wimbledon champion demonstrated her skills with powerful descents in the Melbourne sun.
Barty, who hopes to become the first Australian woman to win the title following a 44-year absence, next plays Italian Camila Giorgi while a fourth-round clash once morest defending champion Naomi Osaka looms on the horizon.
