Barrister Gohar Ali Khan elected PTI Chairman unopposed

In the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) intra-party election, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, nominated by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, was elected Chairman PTI unopposed. While Umar Ayub was elected Secretary General of PTI.

Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Election Commissioner Niazullah Niazi says that Barrister Gohar Ali Khan will be PTI Chairman while Umar Ayub will be Central General Secretary.

Niazullah Niazi said that Yasmin Rashid will be the president of PTI Punjab, Haleem Adil Shaikh became the president of Tehreek-e-Insaf Sindh. Former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur will be the president of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while Munir Ahmed will be the president of Balochistan.

Earlier on November 29, in a conversation with the media, Tehreek-e-Insaf Barrister Ali Zafar said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan will not participate in the intra-party election. They don’t want to give us a chance to take away the mark of the bat from us. Intra-party elections will be held on December 2.

It should be noted that on November 23, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declared the intra-party election of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf null and void and directed to hold intra-party election again within 20 days.

It has been said in the decision that according to the constitution, PTI has not made the intra-party election transparent, PTI should conduct the election within 20 days according to the constitution and the report of the intra-party election should be submitted 7 days after the election. The decision further states that PTI will be disqualified from contesting the elections if the intra-party elections are not held within the stipulated period.
