The early extension of the Cerro Campanario concessionone of the most visited tourist spots in Bariloche, which has first round penaltywill be submitted once more this Monday to a public hearing with 16 speakers interested in exposing their visionespecially neighbors and environmentalists who question the initiative.
The extension of the municipal concession for 25 years to the company Campanario SRL, with a commitment to works and a canon, was promoted by the mayor Gustavo Gennuso and had an arduous debate in the Municipal Council. On July 4 of last year, a public hearing was held with 8 speakers, but then there were claims and requests for annulment due to errors in the information presented at the time.
The Deliberative Council, three weeks ago, finally tratated in session the project that was approved by majority, with the vote of the Juntos Somos Río Negro bloc, Citizen Unity, PUL, Bariloche for Change and councilor Marcelo Casas of the Frente de Todos. In a minority, Julieta Wallace, from the Frente de Todos, and Pablo Chamatrópulos from the neighborhood party Podemos, rejected.
That sanction of the ordinance requires a second round and the councilors committed a new call for a public hearing in the face of criticism of the previous process. Meanwhile, the text returned to committees and is under review.
For this new public hearing, which will be held this Monday at 5:00 p.m. in the Council session room, the Ombudsman, Analía Woloszczuk, Soledad Anselmi, Robert Cooper, Jenifer Navarro, Nestor Iglesias, Susana Antolin, Norberto Rodríguez, Damiana Nico, María de los Ángeles Ruffo, Evelyn Stiefel, Patricia Maria Contreras Newbery, Luciano Celsi, Ana Wieman, Luis Rossi, Luis Suero and Domingo Carrasco.
The extension of the contract to the company that has been exploiting Cerro Campanario for decades includes a commitment to works and improvements in the spaces of the mountain summit for 3.2 million dollars and a fee that will start at 12% of your gross billing of the ticket office of the means of elevation and that will grow throughout the concession until reaching 21%.
Residents of the western neighborhoods who expressed their rejection of the project as written in various commissions of the Council, made public this week their “concern regarding the lack of clarity in the project that proposes a mega construction in a place of high environmental fragility and extreme landscape protection”.
They demand that the councilors take note of their proposals and determine, prior to extending the contract, the urban parameters that will be applied to the property because there is a discussion whether the works to be carried out are within the jurisdiction of the Urban Nature Reserve. El Trébol, which requires greater restrictions due to the environmental vulnerability of the area.
