Bari, rags fly between Pd and M5S. “Incomprehensible”, Schlein gets angry with Conte –

There is an air of showdown between the Democratic Party and the 5 Star Movement after the earthquake in Bari. The new investigation which exploded in a thunderous manner this morning has led Giuseppe Conte, Grillino leader, to take a heavy stance on the upcoming primaries: «For the M5s the objectives of legality, transparency, the fight against any form of corruption and polluting of the vote, the fight against clans and mafias are indispensable premises. If these premises are not there, if these guarantees are not there, we are not there. For the M5S there are no conditions to hold primaries in Bari. A new beginning is needed.”

Conte’s step backwards made the dem leadership jump from their chairs. «Conte’s choice – the reaction of Nazarene sources – to exit the primaries is incomprehensible, if the M5s thinks it can win alone against the right, go ahead. But have respect for the city of Bari, for the center-left voters and don’t think of giving morality lessons to anyone. The Democratic Party remains alongside Bari which has already demonstrated how important the Democratic Party is as a safeguard of legality and good administration. We are certain that the Democratic Party together with the center-left will win the elections again against this right.”

The primaries were supposed to take place on Sunday and the vote was to choose the post-Antonio Decaro mayoral candidate between Vito Leccese, supported by the Democratic Party, and the criminal lawyer Michele Laforgia, supported by the left and M5S. And tomorrow Schlein will be with Leccese together with Decaro and Emilano: prepare the popcorn for yet another argument on the left.
