High-end graphics cards have become horribly expensive. The RTX 4090 reached new heights and even the RTX 4080 cost more than twice the price of a PlayStation 5. The objective displayed by NVIDIA on the RTX 4080 SUPER was therefore not only laudable, but above all expected while AMD has recently reduced the price of its own cards, the RX 7900 XT in particular.
The fact remains that by announcing almost similar performances (2 to 5% better) and while a certain skepticism often accompanies price announcements, NVIDIA did not risk causing this famous “wow effect” that we sometimes talk regarding. The fact is that this RTX 4080 SUPER does not upset either the NVIDIA hierarchy or that, more generally, of the graphics card world.
Is this a reason to complain? We can play the revolutionaries and shout “NVIDIA is stuffing itself” or “NVIDIA should divide its prices by 2”. Let’s see the glass half full instead: of no interest if you have an RTX 40 series, the RTX 4080 SUPER offers slightly increased performance for a price lower by more than 20%. If AMD’s pressure is undoubtedly not unrelated to this state of affairs, in absolute terms, it’s quite a good deal, right?
