Barcelona remains alert as both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have targeted Iñaki Peña, the €8M-rated standout goalkeeper from their squad. PSG, in particular, may soon bid farewell to Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose blunders in critical matches have begun to cause unease within the club. Manager Luis Enrique is expected to seek a goalkeeper who better fits his strategic vision for the team’s future.
Donnarumma had a rocky performance against Arsenal during Matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League, suffering from two crucial errors that directly contributed to the Gunners’ goals. His first significant mishap occurred when he strayed off his line to intercept what seemed to be an innocuous cross, resulting in Kai Havertz capitalizing on the mistake and heading the ball into the net.
The second goal came from a free-kick by Bukayo Saka. Despite being lightly obstructed, Donnarumma attempted a parry but completely missed the ball, allowing it to roll into the goal, further deepening concerns about his reliability between the posts.
These glaring mistakes have fueled speculation regarding a potential shift in PSG’s goalkeeping strategy. Reports indicate that the club is now eyeing Iñaki Peña, an emerging talent from Barcelona, to enhance their goalkeeping options moving forward.

When Marc-André ter Stegen was sidelined with a long-term injury earlier in the season, many questioned whether Iñaki Peña could adequately replace the German keeper. However, Peña has since risen to the occasion, displaying performances that have garnered the interest of prestigious clubs, with a recent report from Fichajes revealing some intriguing details. The clubs pursuing him include Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, both managed by former Barcelona coaches Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique.
Both PSG and Manchester City consider Peña a strong alternative to their current first-choice goalkeepers. Interestingly, PSG had already signed a Barcelona goalkeeper, Arnau Tenas, last year and is now contemplating adding Peña as a potential backup for Donnarumma.
How much could Peña cost? Transfermarkt estimates the 25-year-old’s market value at €8 million, with his current contract set to run until 2026.
