Barcelona have announced the signing of defender Marcos Alonso from Chelsea, as part of the transfer deal for Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Barcelona have signed defender Marcos Alonso from Chelsea, as part of the transfer of Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the opposite side, where Alonso joined the left-back, on a one-year contract with a penalty clause of 30 million euros.
The 31-year-old, who joined Chelsea in 2016, won the English Premier League and Champions League titles with the London club during his six years there.
Alonso returned to the Spanish league for the first time in a decade, having previously played in the English Premier League for clubs Bolton and Sunderland, who was loaned to him from Fiorentina, Italy.
The player, who was included in the youth categories at the “Castell” academy in Real Madrid, had played only one match for the royal team before leaving for England in 2010.
His arrival in Barcelona comes following the termination of his contract with Chelsea, which came following the English club signed Aubameyang, to end his term in Catalonia.
Alonso became the second defender to join Barcelona on the last day of the transfer period, as Hector Bellerin joined the Catalan club from Arsenal, following he also terminated his contract with his London club.
Alonso will wear the number 17 shirt with the team, while Bellerin won the number two shirt, and both will not be present in the team’s match once morest Seville in the Spanish League this weekend.
