Barcelona shot down Sevilla and continues to lead the table, Atlético turned the match with Leganés – ČT sport – Czech Television

Football Frenzy: Highlights from La Liga

Well, well, well! Football fans, grab your popcorn and brace yourselves because Barcelona‘s recent antics at the Olympic Stadium make a better story than most rom-coms currently airing on Netflix. Ten consecutive victories? You’d think they were filming a sequel to Rocky – only this time, it’s not just the underdog that’s smashing some heads!

Now, in case you’ve been living under a rock or are just really, really bad at keeping up with football, let’s recap. While their beloved Camp Nou gets a facelift worthy of a magazine spread, Barcelona has been cozying up to their temporary home like it’s a dating app. They last dropped points back in February—a date that even Raphinha, Lewandowski, and Pedri couldn’t forget! The last time they saw any points slip away, they were likely still sporting their winter coats—don’t bother checking the wardrobe though; it’s a new season of absurdity!

In the match against Sevilla, it was Lewandowski who took the spotlight, converting a penalty with his signature near-stop style—perfectly executed, like a dance move you nail in the kitchen but never quite pull off in public. Pedri strolled in shortly after to add a second goal, proving that there’s plenty of flair in the Barcelona toolkit. And before half-time, Lewandowski had already bagged his 12th league goal this season! Ruling the scorers’ table like a benevolent monarch, waving his scoring scepter at the crowd.

After the break, in true football comedy fashion, Coach Flick decided to give his stars a rest. Rest? This isn’t a vacation in the Maldives! Meanwhile, substitute Torre decided to make himself the life of the party, knocking in two goals like they were overdue bills. It seems the only glow for Sevilla came from Belgian Idumbo, who saved some face for the visitors towards the end. Let’s just say it was about as honorable as a consolation prize!

Then there was Mallorca – a team that started the game looking more threatening than a cat in a room full of rocking chairs! Navarro nearly got one on the board as early as the start, hitting the post—a reminder that even the savviest strikers can be painfully unlucky. But again, Argentinian keeper Batalla turned into a wall, repelling attacks left, right, and center until Muriqi sent everyone into a frenzy with a header, shooting Mallorca back to life like a defibrillator at a stale party. Shall we just say that ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ applies directly to his muscle injury saga?

Now, if you thought the entertainment stopped there, think again! The folks from Leganés strolled into the match against Atlético Madrid like they were setting out on a fine dining experience – but instead, they ended up with cheap takeout and an unexpected ice cream headache. Their attack has been so dire, it’s as if they were trying to score goals with a spoon. Yet, Cameroonian midfielder Neyou seemed to have discovered the secret sauce to lighting up that attack. Talk about a plot twist!

Enter Sörloth, the Norwegian wonder, scoring for the first time since the season’s opener. He managed to reverse his fortune like an IKEA assembly—it seemed impossible until it all came together. Griezmann then took the lead for Atlético with a slide to remember—some call it skill, others call it luck, but we all know it’s probably just Griezmann being Griezmann. In a flash of brilliance, Sörloth sealed the win, ensuring he won’t have to treat himself to a little self-pity party anytime soon. Atlético remains third, proving that sometimes consistency is more valuable than creativity, except in an improv comedy show!

And finally, we arrive at Villarreal—a team almost as confusing as your last relationship! After a long absence from the European scene, they played to a 1-1 draw with Getafe. Villarreal grabbed the lead early on with a Comesani shot, but then Getafe cornered the market on frustration, hitting the bar and then equalizing from the penalty spot. Welcome to football—a drama full of ups, downs, and plot twists we never saw coming!

So folks, as we navigate through this league full of surprises, let’s keep our eyes peeled, our snacks stocked, and our hope high – because when it comes to La Liga, it’s not just a game; it’s a chaotic rollercoaster we can’t help but love!

Barceona have won ten games in a row at the Olympic Stadium, where they are in asylum during the renovation of the Camp Nou, last dropping points in February in a 3-3 draw with Girona.

Against Sevilla, Lewandowski first converted a penalty for a foul on Raphinha in his typical near-stop style. Pedri added the second hit after Yamal’s pass. The Polish gunner scored his 12th league goal this season before the break and reigns supreme in the scorers’ table.

After the change of sides, coach Flick already let his biggest stars rest, but substitute Torre completed the debacle with two goals. It was only in the end that the Belgian Idumbo achieved an honorable success for the guests.

Mallorca had the upper hand from the start, Navarro hit the post right from the start, and especially after the change of sides, the home team had several chances, but Argentinian goalkeeper Batalla kept the guests at bay several times. He capitulated only a quarter of an hour before the end, when Kosovar striker Muriqi, who returned to the pitch for the first time since mid-September after a muscle injury, headed into the net after a corner kick.

The visitors from Leganés went into the game at the Atlética Madrid Stadium with the worst attack in La Liga, but Cameroonian midfielder Neyou showed that productivity may not be so bad.

The Norwegian Sörloth took care of the equalizer and the Frenchman Griezmann took the lead for the home side in a slide. Sörloth then sealed the win in the tenth minute of regulation. The Norwegian striker scored for the first time since the opening round, but he ended his scoring fast during the week with two goals in the national team jersey. Atlético remain third and, along with Real, are the only unbeaten teams in the competition.

Villarreal, which has been absent from the European scene for a long time this year and is currently moving up the cup ladder, played 1:1 with Getafe. He led for a long time after a Comesani shot, but the visitors were better after the change of sides. Substitute Rodriguez hit the bar with a header and Uruguayan Arambarri equalized from the penalty spot.
