FC Barcelona has made the strategic decision to renew the contract of young full-back Alex Valle while also loaning him to Celtic. This selection demonstrates the Catalan club’s desire to secure a promising player’s future while providing him with the opportunity to gain experience in a competitive environment.

Valle returned to Barca after a loan spell at Levante and showed his versatility during pre-season under Hansi Flick, particularly as a right-back. However, despite his performances, he failed to establish himself in the starting line-up in his first La Liga game, being overtaken by Gerard Martin in the internal pecking order. Therefore, the club decided to loan him out to Celtic where he is expected to develop further by getting more playing time.

Celtic have agreed to pay the €1.5m loan in full, reflecting the Scottish club’s confidence in Valle’s potential. For FC Barcelona, the loan is an opportunity to see its young talent develop in the demanding Champions League, while retaining return options to strengthen the first-team squad in the future.
