Barcelona (AFP) – Barcelona expects revenue of 1,255 million euros (1,258 million dollars) in revenue in this 2022/2023 season, according to the budget approved by the club’s board on Monday night.

“The Board of Directors has approved the budget for the 2022/23 season which includes an operating income budget of 1,255 million euros,” the club said in a statement.

The azulgrana budget for this season is also committed to profits of 274 million euros (274.6 million dollars).

The forecasts made by the club include the capital gains generated by the sale last July of 15% of the television rights of the League to the Sixth Street fund, which, according to the press, amount to some 400 million euros (400.4 millions of dollars).

Also included in this season’s budget is the sale of 49% of Barcelona’s audiovisual subsidiary Barça Studios for 200 million euros (200.1 million dollars).

This sale was distributed between 24.5% to the Socios.com platform for 100 million euros (100 million dollars) and another sale of the same percentage and amount to the Media company, directed by Jaume Roures, founder of Mediapro.

The Barcelona board also approved the closing of the previous year with a record turnover of 1,017 million euros (1,017.5 million dollars).

The 2021/2022 season also closed with a profit of 98 million euros (98.1 million dollars), much higher than the 5 million euros provided for in the budgets for that year.

Barcelona managed to save the campaign thanks to the sale over the bell of part of the league audiovisual rights.

The previous year accounts for the capital gains generated by the sale of 10% of the television rights of the league to Sixth Street for 207.5 million euros (207.6 million dollars).

This operation was closed on June 30, the last day of the previous year, which allowed Barcelona to save its accounts from last season.

Sixth Street later bought another 15%, whose income has been included in the forecasts for the current 2022/2023 season.
