Barça ties up Olmo for €55M plus bonuses

The negotiations between Barcelona and Dani Olmo have entered the final stretch and it seems that there will be a happy ending for the Blaugrana club. According to Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sport Germany, Deco, Barça’s sporting director, arrived in Germany on Monday night to hold a summit in Leipzig that has been decisive in giving a push to sign Olmo to the Blaugrana team. The agreement is close to being closed for 55 million euros plus seven in variables, some of which are difficult to meet. Olmo would sign until 2030, as Diario AS has been able to confirm. The parties are still working on closing the last details of the agreement, but they are very optimistic. Olmo’s transfer to Barcelona could even be closed this afternoon.

The Euro champion, whose contract with the German club expires in 2027, has been in Germany for a few days, accompanied by Andy Bara, one of his representatives. Before that, Olmo was in Zagreb, as his former club paid tribute to him on Saturday for his success with La Roja and winning the tournament’s Golden Boot. On Tuesday, Juanma López, his main agent, and Deco joined the negotiations with Red Bull Leipzig.

The German club, which already valued the player at 60 million euros in a release clause that expired on July 20, rejected an initial offer from the Catalan club. Barcelona has now put another proposal on the table for an amount that would be around 55 million euros plus 7 that would depend on a series of variables, for an agreement until 2030 with Olmo. The positions are now close to an agreement.

Nico’s refusal accelerates the Olmo operation

Nico Williams was Laporta’s ‘plan A’. However, after learning that the winger will remain at Athletic, the Catalan club has opened the door to the Spanish international, another of the options they had on the table and that the board looked very favourably on. Just like Hansi Flick.

Dani Olmo is due to join Leipzig training on Thursday unless a transfer to Barça is finalised before then, so he only has 48 hours to decide his future. This was made clear by Marcel Schäfer during the presentation of Xavi Simons as a new Leipzig player: “We are relatively calm, if there is a solution before Thursday, so be it. Otherwise, he will start training on Thursday and then we will have another top-level player in our ranks.” The final hours are approaching to find out Olmo’s future, as Barcelona are working on a final attempt for the Spanish international. Leipzig are open to negotiations and the parties are very close to an agreement.
