Bárbara Riveros becomes the six-time Ironman 70.3 champion

The Chilean triathlete led practically the entire race in her category, completing the circuit in a time of 04:26:48. In men, the Spanish Antonio Benito López obtained first place with a time of 03:55:13

Chilean athlete Bárbara Riveros made history this sunday in the Subaru IRONMAN 70.3 from Puconby winning his category and adding his sixth crown in ‘the most beautiful race in the world’.

The national triathlete completed the circuit at 04:26:48, beating Argentina Romina Biagioli (04:39:45) already the American Brittany Higgins (04:45:56)who reached second and third place in the race, respectively.

“I am really happy, because I was able to deliver this victory to all the people. I owe a lot to Pucón in my training, so thanks to those who continue to believe in me (…) now to continue working hard for the competitions to come”, highlighted Bárbara Riveros following repeating the first places obtained in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 y 2019.

In the ladies category, the Chilean triathletes Florencia Vásquez and Macarena Salazar, as well as the American Laura Mathews, among other competitors.

The male category

In men, meanwhile, Spanish Antonio Benito Lopez won first place in Subaru IRONMAN 70.3 Puconemulating his compatriot gomez noyawinner of the previous edition, with a time of 03:55:13.

The 28-year-old athlete, recent champion in the Bilbao-Bizkaia medium distance triathlonsurpassed the Chilean Martin Ulloa (03:59:20) and to the American Mark Dubrick (04:00:00)who obtained second and third place in the competition, respectively.

“Thanks to all the public who supported me in every meter. The circuit around the peninsula was difficult, but this really makes the test special (…) I feel good and happy to have won in this very special place”, he shared Antonio Benito Lopez following crossing the finish line in his debut in the Pucón race.

Likewise, in men the national triathletes also stood out Martín Baeza, Roberto Rivera and Nicolás Sáez, the Brazilians Danilo Melo and Felipe Santos, the Argentinean Flavio Morandini and the Canadian Garrick Loewen, among others.
