Valencia announced today, Tuesday, the dismissal of its coach, Foro Gonzalez, as coach of the first team, and the appointment of Ruben Baraja in his place.
Foro’s dismissal came following Valencia suffered 4 consecutive defeats, and achieved one victory in the last 10 rounds, to drop to the 18th place, which descends with its owner, with 20 points in 21 games.
And the club’s statement stated that Barraja, the former historic player for “the bat”, will lead the team at least until the end of the current season.

He explained that Baraja will take over his duties “in the coming days”, and that he will have another former player, Carlos Marchena, in his coaching staff.
After retiring as a player, Barraja (47 years old) started his career as a coach at the Valencia Academy, and took over clubs such as Real Zaragoza, Tenerife, Sporting Gijon, Rayo Vallecano and Elche.
