They had formed a small group hoping to maximize their chances of victory and thus shared their spoils.
2571.10 euros per person. 57 customers of the bar-tabac-FDJ Le Casino in Montauban-de-Bretagne (Ille-et-Vilaine) together won a jackpot of nearly 150,000 euros by playing the lotto flash grids collectively on July 17th.
“As the boss, I was very happy for my customers and friends who come to the bar almost every day”, entrusted to Ouest-France Diane Louet, the manager and also participant of the lotto group.
“For my part, the money will be used for the return of my children,” she explains. A client says for his part that the money “will be used to carry out work” at home when another is considering more down to earth projects, planning to “pay (his) property taxes”.
“I will surely invite my children to a restaurant,” he agrees, however.
A bet of 45 euros each
The group wanted to emulate the 165 residents of the Antwerp region, Belgium, who together won €143 million in EuroMillions. Initially, the participants came and went, but five months ago the clients decided to form a 57-member closed group that plays every week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Everyone bets 3 euros roughly every 10 days. “We had never exceeded 80 euros in winnings. Each time, we replayed all of our winnings until there was no more money. Sometimes, we made 10 days with 3 euros”, summarizes Diane Louet. The members have each bet around 45 euros since December 31st.
In July, they thus pocketed 146,587.90 euros, or 2,571.10 euros each. However, they do not intend to stop there and intend to continue playing to, perhaps, win a larger sum.
