DEPUTY for Consumption Diversity and Food Safety (PKKP) of the National Food Agency (BAPANAS), Andriko Noto Susanto visited the Teaching Factory (TEFA) Miniplant Industry and the Medan Agricultural Development Polytechnic’s Modern Coffee Nursery, Saturday (30/3).
Andriko was accompanied by the Head of the Agricultural Education Center (Kapusdiktan) Idha Widi Arsanti, Founder and Chairman, Mcorp. Leading Marketing Professional Service Firm in ASEAN Hermawan Kartajaya, as well as Director of Polbangtan Medan Yuliana Kansrini. During the visit, the group saw directly from coffee nurseries to the processing of coffee beans and discussed directly with Polbangtan students regarding the use of TEFA for the continuity of education at Polbangtan Medan.
Yuliana Kansrini said TEFA is a learning method that is applied to approach factual conditions in the business and industrial world, in its implementation in collaboration with stakeholders, so that competencies are in line with market demand.
“One of the TEFA systems developed by Polbangtan Medan is developing a Modern Coffee Nursery and Processing Industry Miniplant,” said Yuliana, in her statement, Monday (1/4).
TEFA, he said, is a place for learning and business in the coffee sector, so that students will be able to develop their potential as coffee entrepreneurs from seeding to processing.
The implementation of TEFA is in line with the direction of the Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman regarding entrepreneurship as an effort to regenerate skilled workers in the agricultural sector who have an entrepreneurial spirit or socioagripreneur. Maintaining sustainable agricultural development by producing professional, independent and competitive agricultural human resources.
Meanwhile, Head of the Agricultural Extension and Human Resources Development Agency (BPPSDMP) Dedi Nursyamsi stated that young farmers have a role in realizing national food self-sufficiency and rice production. (Z-8)
