Himchan (real name Kim Himchan, 33), a former member of the idol group BAP, was found to have committed another sexual crime while being tried on charges of forcible molestation. A total of three sex crimes have been indicted so far.
On the 24th, Seoul Western District Court Criminal Agreement Division 12 (Chief Judge Kwon Seong-soo) held the first trial date for Himchan, who was indicted on charges of rape, filming using a camera, etc., and obscene acts using communication media under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.
According to the prosecution, Himchan is accused of raping and illegally filming the victim who drove him home in May of last year, and transmitting pornographic material while contacting the victim in June the following month.
In May of last year, Himchan was on trial for a previous forcible molestation case.
Himchan was first brought to trial in April of the following year on charges of sexually harassing a woman in her 20s at a pension in Namyangju in July 2018, and was sentenced to 10 months in prison in the first trial in February 2021. At the appeal trial held in February of this year, she was sentenced to 10 months in prison as in the first trial and was detained by the court.
He was additionally indicted in October of the same year after it was revealed that he had sexually assaulted two women while drunk on the stairs outside a bar in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu in April of last year.
In addition, in April, it was revealed that he was being investigated by the police for another sex crime separate from the previous two sexual harassment cases, and the specific details of the charges were revealed through the trial on this day.
At the trial on this day, Himchan, who appeared wearing a blue jumpsuit, admitted to all crimes. The victim’s lawyer who attended the trial stated that the victim had no intention of reaching an agreement with Himchan.
Himchan’s second forcible molestation case was scheduled to be judged in the first trial on the 8th of next month, but the sentencing will be postponed as Himchan requested that it be merged with the current rape case.
Himchan debuted in the music industry in 2012 with the idol group B.A.P. BAP was effectively disbanded in August 2018 when two members withdrew and the remaining members’ exclusive contracts with their agencies ended the following year.
