The Flamengo squad wrapped up their second day of pre-season training on Thursday, January 9, at the Ninho do Urubu Training Center. Despite the brief period since their return, club president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, affectionately known as Bap, shared some encouraging updates.He highlighted the strong rapport between head coach Filipe Luís and technical director José Boto, describing their collaboration as seamless and highly productive.

Bap elaborated further, stating, “It’s been intense. They (José Boto and Filipe Luís) are getting along very well, with a total alignment. The conversations between us took place long before the elections. We are putting into practice everything we talked about over the last 90, 120 days. Everything is going very well, we are very confident.”
José Boto arrived in Brazil during the final week of December, while Filipe Luís rejoined the team on Wednesday, January 8. Interestingly, the two had already met in Europe prior to the squad’s return to discuss strategic plans.their meeting proved pivotal,with Boto reportedly impressed by Luís’ vision and leadership,solidifying his support for the coach’s continued role.
Bap’s Leadership at Flamengo
Elected as president in December 2024, Bap officially assumed his role in January. On thursday, January 9, he attended the opening ceremony of the Campeonato Carioca, hosted by the Rio de Janeiro State Football Federation (FERJ). Before this event, Bap had already initiated meaningful organizational changes across various departments within Flamengo, signaling a fresh direction for the club.

With Filipe Luís and the main squad preparing for their upcoming matches in the United states,Flamengo’s alternative team will debut in the Campeonato Carioca on Sunday,January 12,against Boavista. The match is set to take place in Aracaju,Sergipe.Fans can catch the action live on YouTube, ensuring they don’t miss a moment of the game.
Meanwhile, Filipe Luís’ primary team will travel to the United States in the early hours of January 10-11. Their first match abroad is scheduled for January 19 against São Paulo. The main squad’s inaugural state match is slated for January 26 against Volta Redonda, though the exact location remains undecided.
