Carlos Hank, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Financiero Banorte, announced that A “responsible and exhaustive” analysis will be carried out on the conditionsonce the information on the sale by Citibanamex is known, for what is considered to add value to the Mexican group, it would invite its network of more than a thousand businessmen, who make up its regional and local councils, to join as investors.
In addition to being allowed to all Mexicans who wish to invest in the recovery of this historic national institution and also become an owner, he explained this Tuesday.
“This is a historic opportunity to strengthen the national bankadding businessmen and the Mexican public”, indicated Hank González.
The Banorte Financial Group (GFNorte) would summon Mexican citizens, families and businessmen to recover the National Bank of Mexico (Banamex) and form a Mexican banking champion, he said.
Since there is currently not enough information from Citibanamex, Banorte has not yet decided if it will carry out an eventual purchase operationbut in the event that the conditions were favorable and it decided to participate in its purchase, Banorte would seek that Citibanamex remain in the hands of all Mexicans.
“In case of deciding to participate, we would invite all the businessmen that make up our regional councils and local councils throughout the country to join as investors for the recovery of this historical institution of the national bank”, he pointed out.
Marcos Ramírez, CEO of the financial group, explained that it would be a Mexican bank for all Mexicans if they decide to buy it, since it would also invite all Mexicans to join this cause without a minimum investment and also become owners of it.
“Banorte plans to enable its more than 1,100 branches and different service channels to allow all Mexicans who wish to join this national effort,” explained Ramírez Miguel.
Banorte recalled that it has a long history of growth and strengthening of Mexican banking. Thirty years ago it ranked 17th out of 18 banking institutions; today it ranks second in a system with 50 actors.
