It has been more than two weeks since several businesses in the care and housing company Triamant were declared bankrupt. According to information from HBVL, some creditors have since already released their claims. In all, the amount amounts to 305,000 euros. “But it’s probably only a small part,” explains curator Dominic Gielen to our colleagues.

Tanja Thierie worked for Triamont. The home nurse filed a complaint and is still awaiting the verdict of the labor court. She led a team of six people and provided ongoing care at the site in question. “At the end of last year, payments were already becoming more difficult,” says Tanja. “Since February, nothing has happened. Letters and phone calls went unanswered, ”testifies the nurse.

Despite the fact that she was no longer receiving her salary, Tanja continued to work and so did her team. “It was regarding the patients. We mightn’t give up on them. At the end of April, we notified Triamant that we would stop on May 10 if payments were still not made. It had no effect,” laments the nurse. “We continued to care for three of the six people following that date, simply because the residents of Triamant needed this care,” she adds.

“That money has to be somewhere”

It was at the end of May that the other nurses in Tanja’s team stopped working. “Triamant then called on a group of nurses from Brussels. Several of them did not speak Dutch and were not paid either. They only lasted a few weeks”, explains Tanja once more.

And the problem is that while they were no longer receiving care, the residents continued to pay for them. For those who wanted to benefit from 24-hour care, it cost them no less than 1,800 euros! For care they weren’t getting. “That money has to be somewhere, right? asks Tanja.

In total, the company still owes Tanja and her team 50,000 euros in arrears. “At the beginning of June, I filed a complaint with the labor court, but I have not yet received a decision,” adds the nurse.

Triamant also has arrears with its caterer. The baker has also not been paid since February.
