The Wali of Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM), Abdellatif Jouahri, received, on Saturday in Marrakech, the prize relating to his ranking among the best Governors of Central Banks internationally, awarded by the American magazine Global Finance, on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
Mr. Jouahri is among the best central bankers in the world, according to the latest Global Finance ranking, obtaining an “A-” grade awarded by the New York magazine in its report entitled “Central Banker Report Cards 2023”.
Bank Al-Maghrib is the only Central Bank in the Arab world cited in this ranking.
Published annually by Global Finance since 1994, the Central Banker Report Cards evaluates central bank governors from 101 key countries, territories and regions, including the European Union, the Central Bank of the Eastern Caribbean, the Bank of African States Central Bank and the Central Bank of West African States.
The grades awarded by the magazine are classified on a scale from “A” to “F” and take into account the performances achieved in terms of controlling inflation, economic growth objectives, monetary stability and management of interest rates. ‘interest. “A” represents excellent performance and “F” represents dismal failure, according to the magazine.
