While in Germany for Gamescom this year, we had the chance to speak with the developers behind the upcoming Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. We caught up with Don’t Nod’s Philippe Moreau (Game Director) and Karim Benfares (Executive Producer) about their upcoming project. In that interview, which you can read in full below, we asked the couple what inspired the action-adventure project. “So in terms of inspiration, let’s say The Revenant’s cinematography, you know, the setting,” Morrow said. “Otherwise? In terms of gameplay, maybe for the combat system, we studied a lot of God of War because we knew it was a very good system for gameplay. So we tried something very different from Vampyr, which is Our first action RPG, we believe we’ve made a really good and dynamic action game this time. Banfals continued: “Yeah, I think the other main inspiration for Outcast was definitely vampires. We had to Talk about it because in Outcast we wanted to reuse the expertise we got from vampires. For example, in The Vampire we had the conflicted situation of the main character, Jonathan Reed. He was a A vampire, but also a doctor. In Outcast we wanted to keep this paradoxical situation with two characters, Red and Antia. One is alive, one is dead, they are ghost hunters, but They’re haunted by ghosts. It offers a lot of subtlety in terms of the situation being narrated. Well, we also have moral choices in Outcast, just like in Vampire, and we believe that makes a lot of sense for the player Complicated choices. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden launches November 7, 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles, and we just recently saw a ton of extra gameplay for the game, which you can find here.
