Bangladesh set a target of 280 runs to win the ODI World Cup once morest Sri Lanka. After losing the toss and batting, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 279 runs in 49.3 overs. Sri Lanka was led from the front by Charit Asalanka who scored a century. The player was dismissed following scoring 108 runs off 105 balls.
Other top scorers for Lanka are opener Pathum Nisanga (41 off 36 balls), Sadira Samarawickrama (41 off 42 balls), Dhananjaya D’Silva (34 off 36 balls) and Mahish Theeksna (22 off 31 balls). Sri Lanka lost opener Kushal Perera at the start and Nisanga and captain Mendis took the lead. With the score at 66, Mendis was dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan.
