Antioquia companies led the indicators of environment, society and corporate governance during 2021 in Colombia.
This is revealed by the Merco Responsibility ESG 2021 index, which evaluated the country’s companies by the criteria in question and placed Bancolombia, Grupo Nutresa and Sura, respectively, in the first three boxes.
The published report shows that Bancolombia obtained the highest rating, which is 10,000 points, while Nutresa reached 9,995 and Sura 9,475.
“Within the general assessment by Colombian managers the ethical behavior of companies stands outwhile experts in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) highlight responsibility towards employees”, commented José María San Segundo, CEO of Merco, once the results were known.
In this sense, it is worth noting that 100 companies appeared on the list and, in particular, the top 5 was complemented by Alpina and Bavaria.
Among the Antioquian organizations also Grupo Argos (position 8), Grupo Éxito (11), ISA (13) and Cementos Argos (16) had an outstanding participation.

In addition to this ranking, Merco broke down the top companies that stand out the most according to ESG criteria.
For example, in criterion E (the most environmentally responsible) Bancolombia, Alpina and Grupo Nutresa led.
In the S (the most responsible in the internal sphere, clients and society) led Bancolombia, Nutresa and Sura.
And in G (more responsible at an ethical and corporate governance level) led Nutresa, Sura and Bancolombia.
