Banco Falabella reports crash of its systems and users accuse that “their accounts disappeared”

Banco Falabella this morning became trending topic On twitter. The reason? A failure in its computer systems caused customers to enter the application or the website and their checking accounts, sight accounts and lines of credit do not appear.

Various users denounced through social networks that their products “they disappeared”. Likewise, they were also unable to make any type of transfer.

“The CMF is monitoring the situation in order to ensure the prompt restoration of normal access for people to their financial products and services,” said the regulator.

In response to customer complaints, the financial institution indicated on its website that “At the moment we present intermittents on our website and app, affecting the display and transfer of checking accounts and sight accounts.”

The bank assured that “The situation has been normalizing and credit and debit cards are operating normally.”

Through a statement, the bank stressed that “There has been no affectation in the balances of the accounts, but only a problem of visualization and transfer of checking accounts and sight accounts”. The firm ruled out that there was hacking of its systems.

On Monday followingnoon, the bank mentioned that it stated that “its digital channels are gradually being restored. This is following the intermittence that has been generated in the app and website of the banking entity, causing inconveniences in viewing checking and sight accounts.”

They also indicated that “the teams continue to work to restore the stability of their platforms by 100%”.

As a result of the bank’s computer problems, the National Consumer Service (Sernac) indicated that following several consumers reported problems on the Banco Falabella website and application, “related to the eventual disappearance of some financial products, among them, checking and savings accounts”, the agency “will require that you explain the reasons for the problems, the number of affected, the possible measures taken to resolve the situation, among other aspects”.

With this background, Sernac explained that “the corresponding actions will be evaluated.”

Banco Falabella is one of the main players in the checking account business according to the latest data published by the Commission for the Financial Market (CMF).

At the end of June, the company had a client portfolio of 1.3 million, growing 112% compared to 2021. Likewise, it maintained a market share of 20.8% at the end of the first half of this year, occupying the second industry position behind Banco Santander.

The company reported that at the end of June they had half-year earnings of $109,302 million, 19% less than a year ago.
