CHAIRMAN of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo invited all parties to make the momentum of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah a cement of national friendship.

This was conveyed by Bambang Soesatyo following attending a halalbihalal event with President Joko Widodo and the First Lady, at the State Palace in Jakarta, Wednesday, according to a press release in Jakarta.

“Through the Eid al-Fitr and halalbihalal moments, let’s rebuild togetherness while strengthening brotherhood,” said Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet).

He said that national friendship is very important, especially now that the Indonesian nation is experiencing a transition from the results of the 2024 elections to the new government in 2024-2029.

“Therefore, regarding the 2024 election dispute, let us provide moral support to the judges of the Constitutional Court to adjudicate and decide disputes over election results as honestly and fairly as possible,” he said.

He emphasized that it is inappropriate for political differences in elections to be addressed at the expense of national unity and unity, especially to the point of threatening the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

Furthermore, Bamsoet also appreciated the success of President Joko Widodo’s government in smoothing the flow of homecoming in 2024.

It is projected that this year’s homecoming will bring a national movement of 193.6 million people or more than Eid 2023 of 123.8 million people.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ministry of Economy predicts that the circulation of money during homecoming and Eid in 2024 will reach IDR 384 trillion or higher than last year which reached IDR 230 trillion.

He conveyed that the Kompas Research and Development poll on March 18-20 2024 stated that 55.65 percent of respondents had prepared a larger budget for this year’s Eid compared to last year’s Eid.

Moreover, this year, he said, the holiday allowance (THR) paid to workers/employees and state civil servants (ASN) has returned to full one month’s salary.

“There are no longer any deductions as during the COVID-19 pandemic and post-harvest several years ago. THR, which is full for one month’s salary, can increase people’s purchasing power, which ultimately boosts household consumption and has an impact on improving the national economy,” explained Bamsoet.

He explained that the momentum of going home, apart from being a way to stay in touch with families in your hometown, might also boost tourism activities and the creative economy.

The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy estimates that the circulation of money in this sector during homecoming and Eid might reach IDR 276.11 trillion.

“This figure is very realistic. Because during their homecoming, homecoming travelers will not just stay at home. They will also take their families on tours, culinary delights, and enjoy various arts and cultural performances in their respective regions. So going home will have an impact “It’s big not only for the national economy, but also for the regional economy,” said Bamsoet. (Z-8)
