BAM: Bosses expect an improvement in industrial activity for the next 3 months

Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM), indicated that manufacturers anticipate an improvement in activity for the next three months.

It thus emerges from the results of the business survey for the month of September that 36% of business leaders foresee an increase in production and 40% expect an increase in sales.

According to the survey, whose data was collected between October 3 and 28, 2022 with a response rate of 65%, a rate of 23% of companies say they have no visibility as to the future evolution of production. and 26% for sales.

This survey also reports an evolution, from one month to another, of the activity. Production would thus have increased and the Production Capacity Utilization Rate (TUC) would have stood at 74% following 69% the previous month.

Similarly, sales would have increased both on the local and foreign markets and this, in all branches of activity with the exception of “agri-food” where shipments abroad would have declined. and “chemicals and parachemicals” where local sales have stagnated, notes BAM.

Orders would have stagnated, covering increases in “agro-food”, “textile and leather”, “electrical and electronics” and “mechanical and metallurgy” and a drop in “chemicals”. and parachemistry”.

As for order books, the survey shows that they remained at levels below normal in all branches of activity.
