The Baltimore Ravens are giving up their #1 receiver with wide receiver Marquise Brown traded to the Arizona Cardinals.
The trade became public long before Arizona would have picked position 23 for the first time – and not without reason: A few days ago, both sides had agreed on the trade, Brown was already flown in by private jet to the Cardinals draft party and was in Arizona in the evening.
Cardinals GM Steve Keim then announced that he anticipated a run on receivers, fueling the early trade. The Ravens get Arizona’s pick number 23 in exchange for Brown Baltimore’s third-round pick in position 100 going to the Cardinals.
Baltimore used pick 23 for another down trade and eventually picked center Tyler Linderbaum in 25th position.
At the same time, the Ravens now need to find more weapons on Day 2: Rashod Bateman, Tylan Wallace, Devin Duvernay, James Proche, Jaylon Moore and Binjimen Victor currently form the wide receiver group in Baltimore. Quarterback Lamar Jackson vented his displeasure.
Brown, who played with Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray in college, caught 91 balls for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns last season. He has 21 touchdowns in three NFL years.
