Washington ∙ There is no mystery in the skies of America. A fourth balloon was shot down by US warplanes yesterday, but the US has not accused China of sending all but the first. The balloon flying at an altitude of 20,000 feet was shot down by US Air Force F-16 fighter jets near Lake Huron near the Canadian border. The US dropped similar balloons over Canada’s Yukon on Saturday and over Alaska in the US on Friday.
US Air Force General Glenn VanHerk said the last three downed objects were described as balloons, but might only be confirmed following the debris was recovered. The possibility that they were sent by extraterrestrials was also not ruled out. Meanwhile, China has accused the US of launching at least 10 balloons into Chinese skies since January 2022. However, the White House denied the allegation.
