[OSEN=김보라 기자] (Continued from Interview ①) Director Lee Chung-hyun, who directed the movie ‘Ballerina’, said, “I don’t think there was any actor who might replace the character of Ok-joo.”
Director Lee Chung-hyun said in an interview held at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Seoul on the morning of the 11th, “The only actor who might play this role was Jeon Jong-seo. “I thought that if Jeon Jong-seo’s actual personality was wrong, he was someone who might jump into the storm without looking back,” he said as the reason for casting him.
The decisive moment for director Lee and actor Jeon Jong-seo to meet was the movie ‘Call’ (2020). It was revealed in an exclusive OSEN report in 2021 that they developed feelings for each other while filming this work, and that they developed from colleagues to lovers following completing filming and releasing the movie on Netflix.
The new film ‘Ballerina’ (directed by Lee Choong-hyeon, provided by Netflix, produced by Climax Studio), a collaboration between the two, is regarding Ok-ju (Jeon Jong-seo), a former bodyguard, who rescues Choi (Kim Ji-hoon), who drove her precious friend Min-hee (Park Yu-rim) to death. A beautiful and merciless emotional action revenge drama that unfolds as you chase.

On this day, director Lee Chung-hyun said, “While working on ‘Call,’ I wanted to work with actor Jeon Jong-seo one more time. (In ‘Call’), there was a scene in particular where he sat on a chair in front of a greenhouse and smoked a cigarette, and it felt like it fit the noir genre,” he said.
At the same time, director Lee Chung-hyun said, “This is the first time for both me and actor Jeon Jong-seo to do full-scale action. Although there isn’t much dialogue, I think a lot of it is expressed non-verbally. “I think he is a natural actor,” he said, adding, “I don’t know what kind of work I will do in the future, but if I get the chance, I would like to work with Jeon Jong-seo one more time.”
This is a new work by director Lee Chung-hyun, who has directed films such as ‘Ransom’ (2015), ‘Call’, and ‘Heart Attack’ (2020). It is currently available on Netflix. Running time 93 minutes. (Continued in Interview ③.)
