Bali is set to solidify its position as the leading tourism destination in Indonesia. This vision was recently reinforced by Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana during her visit to the Jatiluwih Tourist Destination Area (DTW) in Tabanan.
The United Nations Tourism named Jatiluwih one of the world’s best tourist destinations for 2024, a testament to the island’s allure and commitment to sustainable tourism.
“I appreciate this award and am optimistic that tourist visits to Jatiluwih will increase during the Christmas and New Year holidays,” Minister Wardhana affirmed.
Investing in Infrastructure and Preservation
Deputy Tourism Minister Ni Luh Puspa emphasized the collaboration between the Tourism Ministry and local governments to enhance Bali’s tourism infrastructure.
“We will build a parking lot in Jatiluwih to address congestion during peak seasons like Christmas and New Year,” Puspa announced.
She further highlighted Bali’s rich cultural heritage, urging for the preservation of its traditions and local wisdom. “Let us work together to maintain Balinese culture,” she stated.

Tjok Bagus Pemayun, Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Service, underlined Bali’s significant contribution to Indonesian tourism, accounting for 50% of visitor arrivals.
“Our office and the Tourism Ministry are dedicated to continuously improving the quality of tourism in Bali,” Pemayun noted.
Komang Gede Sanjaya, Head of Tabanan District, highlighted his region’s success in attracting tourists, even for international meetings, owing to its commitment to preserving local areas and cultures like the traditional Subak irrigation system.
“We are working towards three key objectives: the community that safeguards local wisdom, entrepreneurs who support sustainable tourism, and the government that facilitates this development,” Sanjaya explained. Projecting optimism, he expressed hope for the Tourism Ministry’s continued support in helping all tourist attractions in Tabanan reach their full potential.
