The small town of Auriac-sur-Vendinelle will host the eleventh edition of the Baleine des Ruelles on May 13, a unique event of its kind. Under the theme “Vintage and Visionary at the same time!”, this day promises to be crazy and placed under the sign of daydreaming.
The organizers have planned a program rich in surprises with some ten shows and fourteen performances, which will take place from 2 p.m. until the end of the night.
An imaginary universe
In a sepia-coloured atmosphere, visitors will be able to slip into an imaginary universe where rides of yesteryear rub shoulders with swing music.
Crazy and touching local artists will perform on both sides of the Vendinelle.
On the program: a multi-character one-woman-show, a radio tandem on an acrobatic bicycle, cardboard juggling, an accomplice dance duo, a declaration of love between two clown-musicians, improvised acrobatics, a militant performance on Vauban barriers and even a troupe of Brazilian percussion who will put all their energy into blowing up the gauge of good humor.
Proposals for all ages
The little ones can enjoy storytelling, wooden games and even a cuddly toy pool. For the more adventurous, a burlesque Swing’n’Rock cabaret with costumes, sequins and accessories is planned. Finally, to end the day in style, a DJ set turntable is also on the program.
The event is open to all, family and festive. A retro touch will be much appreciated, but proper attire is not required. The festival is increasingly “zero waste”, so participation in the hat is required to participate.
