Where is the Silent Library of the Temple of Shar?
The Silent Library is located on the lower level of the Temple of Shar in Baldur’s Gate III. It is located right next to the Leap of Faith trial. Its entrance is truly atypical compared to the other rooms of the Temple, insofar as it has a whitish veil.
You can enter the room as you see fit. No special steps are required to gain access to this area of the Temple of Shar.
What to do in the Silent Library?
The first step to solving the Silent Library puzzle is to eliminate the opponents present in the room. However, the fight is likely to be quite complicated, because the room is plunged into silence. The cause of this malus is the Librarian, the purple orb at the bottom of the stairs. Thus, eliminate it as a priority to find the use of your spells which require incantations.
When you’ve cleared the room of any opponents, head down the stairs to find some buttons there that you can interact with. However, before pressing on them, take the time to defuse the traps. The big door will open when you have pressed all the buttons.
In this new room, you will be confronted with a small enigma. The purpose of the latter is to place on the pedestal a book echoing Nightsong. Thus, go up the stairs to find the book “Teaching of Shar: The Night Song” in the shelf located at the top left of the entrance. A treasure room will open with a very rare helmet and the Spear of Night inside.
What is the use of the Spear of Night?
The Spear of Night is the only weapon capable of killing SpoilShowHideNightsinger. So, if you’re following the Shadowheart quest, it’s a good idea to equip it so you can have the choice of going Shar’s or Selune’s path. That decision is up to you, but keep in mind that you’ll have a lot more to lose by killing Nightsong. She remains an important character who will come to your aid in many important battles.
