Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game with many possibilities, even the strangest ones. This malicious player has made an unexpected fix. Be careful, if you are sensitive, the following may shock you.
Evil incarnate in Baldur’s Gate 3
In Baldur’s Gate III, it all starts with choosing your character. Either you decide to create a character from scratch, or you opt for a character already shaped by the game, with a specific class, appearance and story. They are 7 in number and, among them, we find a certain Dark Obsession. As its somewhat peculiar name suggests, it is a playable character apart. Unlike its 6 sidekicks, Dark Obsession is fully customizable. You can choose its appearance, its class or its race. However, his story is always the same: half amnesiac, he is driven by a dark instinct to make the most morally questionable choices.
According to the developers, choosing this character is a guarantee of having the most epic experience possible in Baldur’s Gate 3. They have indeed put particular care into the writing of its history and its adventure. By choosing it, you will notably have the right to new lines and cutscenes. But it is above all the duality that animates him that makes this character particularly interesting. You can indeed choose to resist its dark instincts or give in to it completely and have the darkest gaming experience possible. Well, there is one player who opted for the second option instead. If you want my opinion, he even let his dark side speak a little too much.
The most maniacal killer in Baldur’s Gate 3
“Some choose to play the Dark Obsession, this guy IS the Obsession!” exclaimed MisterOphiuchus on Reddit in response to this confusing post. caufenkamp proudly displayed his battle trophies there following completing Act 1. Not only did the guy kill a fairly large number of creatures, but he had fun bringing them back to a specific place to classify them by type. This gives a rather disturbing collection of trophies whose vision may disturb the most sensitive minds. Either caufenkamp is very manic, or we have here a future sociopath in the making. Or, caufenkamp got a little too caught up in the Dark Obsession version of the adventure game. But still it is necessary that this way of doing things is really Dark Obsession-compatible.
Certainly, the creed of Dark Obsession is to act in the most cruel and violent way possible. Kill, torture, mistreat… These are the options he enjoys choosing. But recovering trophies to store them by class followingwards, it’s actually not particularly cruel or violent… more excessively strange. The game even tells us that the Dark Obsession does not understand this kind of way of proceeding. As noted Bloody_Insane, at the end of the Dark Obsession story, you come across a book written by yourself before you lost your memory. SpoilShowHideIn the latter, you criticize the actions of Orin who, precisely, “are playing” with the people she killed. Dark Obsession “just wants to kill, nothing else” thus concludes Bloody_Insane. And that’s clearly not the case. caufenkamp.
