The slugger Balbino Fuenmayor brought out his power and commanded the triumph of Caribes de Anzoátegui 10-4 over Tiburones de La Guaira, in a duel played on Tuesday, October 29 at the Jorge Luis García Carneiro stadium in Macuto, a coastal town.

Fuenmayor hit a bases-loaded home run to become the Aboriginal player with the most hits of this type (four) in franchise history. He left behind figures such as Magglio Ordóñez, José Francisco Malavé and Dennis Phipps (three each).

In total, the man from Carabob drove in six runs, his personal high, and reached 300 RBIs in his career in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP). It was vital for La Tribu to get its seventh award of the campaign and climb to third place in the table.

Offensive downpour

The challenge held on Guairense soil started favorably for the home team, who scored two lines in the first episode against opener Miguel Cienfuegos and one more in the second act.

With the score 3-0, the salty starter Elvis Araujo got complicated in the third chapter. With the bases congested he gave a ticket to Herlis Rodríguez so that Caribes could break the zero on the electronic, then he dominated Willians Astudillo but that was as far as his work went.

Manager Oswaldo Guillén gave the ball to reliever Pedro Echemendia, but he received the grand slam from “Balbineitor” to turn the score 5-3.

In the fourth inning the torrid Anzoatiguense offensive continued. Wilmer Pérez scored one with a single, Fuenmayor produced two more with a double to center field and Romer Cuadrado drove in the fourth of the episode and ninth of the match for the orientals with a hit to the right field.

Square Towed

Cuadrado boosted Caribes’ tenth with a grounder into a double play that allowed Astudillo to score. In the ninth episode the Litoralenses scored one for the final score of 10-4.

For the indigenous troop, Fuenmayor stood out by going 3-for-5 with a single, double and home run; one run scored and six RBIs. In this match, the young man from Sucre also made his debut, José Fernández, who went 2-for-4 with a triple and a couple of runs scored.

Miguel Cienfuegos was finally able to straighten his path after a hesitant start and claimed the award (1-0). Elvis Araujo (1-1) took the loss.

General classification

Caribes has a record of seven conquests and six setbacks, which places them in third position in the qualifying table, two games behind the lead, occupied by La Guaira.

Those led by Morgan Ensberg have a record of six wins and one loss in the last seven games. This Wednesday they will seek to extend the good moment when they visit Navegantes del Magallanes at the José Bernardo Pérez stadium in Valencia.
