Balanced Nets defeat Suns 116-112, ruining debut of Phoenix star trio

PHOENIX (AP) — Cam Thomas scored 24 points, Mikal Bridges added 21 in his return to the desert and the Brooklyn Nets held on to beat the Phoenix Suns 116-112 on Wednesday, ruining the debut of the home team’s star trio.

The Nets have won seven of their last nine games.

The Suns trailed by eight points at halftime, but rallied to take an 88-86 lead early in the fourth quarter. The game remained close in the fourth quarter, but the Nets took the lead with regarding 10 minutes left and never trailed once more.

Spencer Dinwiddie hit a 3-pointer to put the Nets ahead 112-106 with 1:54 left. He made a layup on the team’s next offensive possession and finished with 16 points.

The Suns cut the lead to 114-112 with 28 seconds left, but Thomas made two free throws with three seconds left to seal the game. Thomas scored 10 points in the fourth quarter.

It was the first time this season, in the 24th game, that Phoenix’s Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal played on the same night. The trio’s debut was delayed due to several injuries, particularly Beal’s sore back, which has limited him to five games this season.
