BAL 2023: the Petro passes the 100 mark

Petro de Luanda became the first team to exceed 100 points in a Nile Conference game on Saturday. The Angolan champion crushed the Mozambicans of Ferroviário da Beira (101-76).

12 of Luanda’s 13 players scored at least 3 points, proof of an extremely well-rounded team around brilliant individuals. As often, it is Carlos Morais who set an example by finishing as top scorer (18 points) thanks in particular to an incredible first 7 minutes with 4 award-winning shots in 5 attempts.

The other strongman of the game will remain the US-born Hungarian Damian Hollisauthor of 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists coming off the bench.

The Petro also made the difference in defense by completely blocking the two main opposing dangers: Will Perryonly 7 points and Bourama Sidibé – The Best Of Bourama Sidibé (5 points, 4 rebonds).

Beira had to rely on Najeal Young (17 points) and Makhtar Gueye (13 points, 6 rebounds) but as the strong Senegalese winger noted at the end of the game: “our bench will have to help us a little more if we want to get out of this”.

Al Ahly plays with fire

In the second game of the day, Al Ahly got scared once morest the City Oilers of Kamapala (72-70).

The Cairotes dominated three-quarters of the match before exploding in the last quarter (11-34). The fault of a Germaine Roebuck Jr. unleashed.
