On Monday, a baker and his wife caught two burglars red-handed at their home in the Halle-Vilvoorde district. To ensure the arrest of the two criminals, the couple, who managed to catch them, kept them under control until the police arrived.
The two suspects, following being arrested, were questioned by the local police at the request of the Halle-Vilvoorde public prosecutor’s office, as reported by Het Nieuwsblad. “After questioning, it was decided to summon them immediately for summary proceedings. The suspects will have to answer before the Brussels Criminal Court at the end of January 2024,” the spokesperson for the public prosecutor then announced.
During this type of legal procedure, the public prosecutor can make many decisions while awaiting trial. As part of this criminal case, the prosecutor decided to summon the suspects for summary proceedings but to release them in the meantime.
This is how the two burglars returned to get their car, parked near the couple’s bakery, and decided to take the opportunity to humiliate the baker. “They laughed in my face,” he lamented. The baker declared that he was “disappointed with justice”. However, the prosecution denies having failed in this case and considers that their decision was adequate. The two burglars will therefore appear in court in January 2024.
