The hopes of SV Ried fans were high when Ante Bajic was announced to be brought home during the winter break. They had to wait a little longer than planned for the 28-year-old’s first goals following his return: in the 5-0 win in the 2nd soccer league once morest Bregenz, the Altheimer scored three times – and showed how important he is for his team in particular can be in the coming season.
Bajic was brought home during the winter transfer period in order to make the difference in the fight for promotion to the Bundesliga in the spring, but he did not seem fully integrated in his first games. “I was relatively relaxed because I knew it was coming. In Senft’s system, the actual winger also had to get used to a new role – as a nine at the front. Senft: “We tried to get the player constellations so that they fit him well. It’s already harmonizing really well.”
