Huge achievement for the Belgian Gilles Arnaud Bailly in the Roland-Garros junior draw. The Belgian overcame the world number one, the American Bruno Kuzuharain the third round to advance to the quarter-finals.
Bailly delivered a huge game, even saving three match points in the second set before overturning the game and winning 3-6 7-6 (8/6) 6-4 in 2h31.
Broken from the start of the second set, the Belgian ran following the score for almost the entire second set before finally snatching a tie-break during which he was led 3-6 and had to dismiss three break points from following. He finally chained five points in a row to win the tie-break 8/6 and afford a third set.
Quickly ahead in the third set, he then managed his advantage to bring down the world number 1 and offer himself a ticket for the quarter-finals where he will face the Swiss Dylan Dietrich for a place in the last four.
